Everything Perfectly Prepares Me Affirmation

Our judgments about whether things are “good” or “bad” for us are often fickle assessments made in the heat of a moment. Those snap judgments are not an effective way to see a holistic view of our lives. Yet, we allow them to dominate our thinking moment to moment, day to day, year after year.

The truth is, it’s possible to see life as a series of varied experiences all perfectly preparing you to achieve what you want to achieve and be the person you want to be.

This affirmation, listened to regularly, helps infuse this concept deeply into your consciousness. The affirmation is repeated about 20 times in both the first and second-person for maximum impact.

Wherever you are on your journey today, know this. You are awesome!

Write A Life Purpose Statement

Finding your purpose is a big deal, but it’s not as mystical or difficult as it sounds. It simply involves bravely and soberly asking the question, “Why am I here on this planet?”

When you consider this question deeply you find that the standard resolutions we all make, while worthy goals, don’t go to the heart of the matter. “What is my life about?”

One of the best ways to identify your purpose and keep in front of you every day is to write a purpose statement. Make it fun and motivational so that it will inspire you to keep going in tough times. You can share your purpose statement with others or keep it completely private. I’d encourage you to make that decision based on what will keep you the most motivated to pursue your purpose.

Here are some tips for creating your purpose statement.

  • Answers the question, “Why am I here on this planet in this time and this place?”
  • Answers the question, “What do I want to accomplish while I’m here?”
  • Answers the question, “What would I be doing if I was truly following my bliss in life?” (What are your true talents? What do you absolutely love doing? What activities make time pass so fast because you enjoy them so much?)
  • Identifies the activities necessary to transform your purpose into a reality.
  • Written as a positively-worded statement that clearly states your life purpose.
  • Edited until it is clear and you are happy with it. Remember it is not a static document. As your purpose becomes clearer, you can always adjust it.
  • Sets a timeline or milestones for your goal.
  • Keeps you motivated throughout the year. Keep your purpose where you will see it every day. Read it every day. Say it every day. Keep it in front of you even when you don’t feel like it.
  • THINKS BIG. This is your life purpose – your ultimate dream – don’t limit yourself to your limited view of what you think is possible right this moment.
  • Revised as life and your goals change.

Here is a sample life purpose statement.

I know I am here on this Earth to write childrens’ books. I am destined to be a published childrens’ author. My books are going to transform childrens’ literature. To accomplish my purpose, I commit to the following activities that I know I must do reach my goal:

Activity #1
Activity #2
Activity #3
Activity #4

While I accept that there may be obstacles in my path, I choose to see them as opportunities to enhance and refine my purpose. I have waited so long to pursue my dream of being a childrens’ author. I’ve made the excuses and let other things get in the way. I will wait no longer. I resolve here and now to pursue my purpose with all my energy, intelligence, and talents. With every step I take towards my goal, I will celebrate and reward myself.

My goal is to be a published childrens’ author by (date).

With a purpose firmly stated and filling your mind, it won’t be long until you are on your way to living your dream.

Go Confidently in the Direction of Your Dreams – Day 331 of 365 Days to a Better You

Have you ever been on an absolute mission to get something done? You’re on a deadline at work or you’ve got errands that need to be done before you can play? It’s amazing how much faster you move, how much more focused you are when you’re on a mission, isn’t it?

Obstacles don’t seem like obstacles because you’re determined to push through to the end. Distractions fade into the background because all you see is the goal.

The great Henry David Thoreau wrote the following in his seminal work, Walden.

I learned this, at least, by my experiment: that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. He will put some things behind, will pass an invisible boundary; new, universal, and more liberal laws will begin to establish themselves around and within him; or the old laws be expanded, and interpreted in his favor in a more liberal sense, and he will live with the license of a higher order of beings. In proportion as he simplifies his life, the laws of the universe will appear less complex, and solitude will not be solitude, nor poverty poverty, nor weakness weakness. If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.

He was describing this state, this zone you get into when you go confidently in the direction of your dreams.

Joseph Campbell summarized this idea, “Follow your bliss and doors will open where before there were only walls and where there would not be a door for anyone else.”

Thoreau promises, when you get into this zone, that you will meet with success “unexpected in common hours.”

To me, his reference to common hours here is a reference to ordinary consciousness or our ordinary thinking. He’s describing a state where you’re transcendent, on fire for your purpose.

When you’re in your normal thinking, all you can often see is the reasons WHY NOT about your goals in dreams. When you move into this uncommon state, your dreams appear right there for you. You experience that Saturday morning push to get the chores done, but sustained and in steroids. You’re on a mission and it shows.

One last word about this altered state for success. It’s not a stress-filled Type-A mindset. It’s the opposite. Thoreau discovered this state while living in solitude and simplicity. Stress is the ego talking. “Move out of the way,” it proclaims, “I’ll do it.”

You give up that need for control. You become a vessel for the process. This is the Tao that does nothing g, but leaves nothing undone. This is the message in the Bhagavad Gita to detach yourself from outcomes and just purely and simply act.

You’re not writing a book. There’s a book that wants to be written and it’s using your mind and your time to achieve its end. It’s a subtle but powerful shift in consciousness.

When you let the universe unfold in you in this way, you will go confidently in the direction of your dreams and achieve what you could never have imagined.

Just in case no one else has reminded you today, you’re awesome!
