A New Level of Thinking

We can not solve our problems with the same level of thinking that created them.
~Albert Einstein

This is among my all-time favorite #quotes. I say it to myself several times each week. There’s a fundamental truth in it.

Whether we’re talking about the planet, a country, a company, or our personal lives; the way we thought yesterday probably won’t keep up with today. It certainly will not take us to the next level. If your goal is to get to the next level, whatever that means for you, your thinking must rise to meet the challenge.

What old, limiting thoughts do you need to release? What new ideas do you need to consider? What traps in your thinking have you fallen into in the past that you choose to side-step today?

So this morning’s #affirmation is:

I embrace better, higher thinking today than ever before. I consider ideas and possibilities I had never considered. I put my wisdom, my resources, and my effort into finding better solutions to life than I did yesterday.

Wherever you are on your journey today, keep your mind on your side.

Love Thy Neighbor

There is no ethical or moral code that ignores this basic principle. So many of the ills afflicting our minds and our society could be greatly mitigated by doing this one thing.

Certainly, there are many on the planet who believe this to be much harder than it actually is. They’ve seen the ugliness people are capable of up close. For many, their protection mechanism has become to blame the whole species.

There are a couple of simple mind shifts that can get us back on a more productive track.

  1. Stop blaming humanity for the faults of some humans. There are literally billions of good people out there trying to make their way in this crazy world just like you. Shift your focus to that fact.
  2. See people as individuals and each situation as unique. We have a tendency to generalize and categorize our way to a point where we don’t trust anyone or anything. Renew your commitment to see each person for the unique individual they are rather than grouping them into a label. See each situation as unique. The fact that you’ve been hurt in say a relationship, doesn’t mean that the best relationship you can imagine isn’t out there for you.

Love your neighbor. Give them the same chance you want and deserve. People will surprise you and you’ll find more joy and happiness in your interactions with others.

You know you’re amazing! Just reminding you.

Thoughts That Would Transform The World #1

Hey, my friends, happy Sunday! I’m starting a new series of posts on thoughts that would transform the world.

I discovered this tweet this morning by a guy named Aaron Will. It immediately struck me as powerful and a real duh.

Why is our educational system set up to make us workers that give the best hours of our days for the best years of our lives rather than teaching us how become abundant and thrive early in life?

Certainly, we’re not here on this Earth only to labor in someone else’s fields most of our lives for two weeks vacation each year and the hope of a few good years to ourselves at the end.

While it would be nice to see an educational system committed to such lofty and aspirational goals, we can’t afford to wait,

It’s up to us to create the life we seek. It’s up to us to do those things that bring us bliss. It’s up to us create revenue streams that, whether they get us completely out of the work-a-day world or not, set us up to live the life we want and provide us choices.

Let us live our best life beginning today,

Better Mindsets Are a Geopolitical Necessity

Better mindsets, long a cornerstone of personal development, have become even more important in a collective sense.

We live in a world today where many Individuals have forgotten that personal momentary whims are not more important than hard-earned values and freedoms we achieved through the struggles of a hundred human generations.

Major nations, seemingly having forgotten the horrors of global war, cavalierly throw out threats and actual,y threaten each other, without concern for the consequences to the planet or our species.

Just as many of us seek to improve and advance our lives through more empowering, authentic, and transformative mindsets, the global geo-political environment requires nations and corporations and other institutions to do the same.

We live in a world that generates too many economic and political losers, eliciting anger and fear. We’ve lost any real sense, within nations and among nations, that we’re in this together and that the advancement and thriving of every human being must be our highest aspiration.

We live in a world where global powers play games of one-upmanship, as though we still live in a world where our conflicts will be resolved on horseback and with swords.

There’s little to no organized effort to solve the ills faced by most human beings in this planet unless it serves the interest of profit or power.

I know a message like this seems at odds with the positive vision I normally advocate on this blog.

Empowering our minds does not happen in a vacuum. As our civilization advances, we must have the vision to believe that “the good life” of choices and self-determination are the birthright of every human being simply because they’re human.

I think one of the big reasons for this state of affairs is people vote out of fear over aspiration. They allow their thinking to be molded by people with and overt goal of creating division in an attempt to make the status quo – their status quo – seem like the best we can possibly do.

As with all major changes, these must begin within us. If we don’t engage in aspirational, empowered, visionary thinking, we cannot be a vehicle for influencing the world in those positive ways. In fact, we’re very likely to get sucked into the negative swirl of thinking that re-manifests the world I’m talking every single day.

Our minds are information vacuums. If we don’t fill them with thoughts of our choice, someone else will.

Wherever you are on your journey today, know that you are awesome!
