The Power of Kindness: The Unexpected Benefits of Leading a Compassionate Life
Be sure and visit the blog Saturday for our weekly Saturday poll. Last week’s poll asked, “What one thing would you do to make the world a better place?”
Today’s affirmation is:
“I am in touch with nature. Every day I feel my feet touch the earth. I feel the wind fill my lungs. I feel the water bring life to every cell of my being. I feel the warm sunshine on my face. I am in touch with nature.”
While larger countries debate “should we or shouldn’t we?” on renewable energy, Portugal has become the front line for renewable green energy sources.
In my mind, the debate on global warming is irrelevent when it comes to renewable energy. Whether human beings are contributing to global warming or it is simply a natural phenomenon seized on by power-hungry politicians and research funding seeking scientists; matters not. Cleaner, renewabale energy is the smart, positive way to feed our planet’s voracious appetite for energy.
In the United States, as well as many western nations, politicians have been talking and talking and talking about “renewable energy sources” and “energy independence” for decades now.
But, alas, Exxon Mobil, Royal Dutch Shell, and other fossil fuel heavyweights always seem to be blocking the path. These companies make nice commercials about their commitment to renewable energy. Meanwhile, they bank roll politicians who talk and talk and talk, but never seem to get around to acting.
“It’s not feasible,” goes the mantra, “alternatives are not competitive with fossil fuels.”
While the U.S. and other western nations debate, Portugal is acting. While the U.S. spends hundreds of billions of dollars a year to support an offensive posture half way around the world to protect it’s “vital interests” (i.e. – oil), Portugal is proving that alternatives can transform a nation’s power use and its economy.
Whoever becomes our next president, we are going to hear more talk. The time has come for this nation to act and follow Portugal’s lead. Don’t let anyone tell you it is impossible. The sky really is the limit in finding new and better ways to fuel our advancement.
Be peaceful Be prosperous!
