When Do You Need Your Mind on Your Side Most?

WHEN DO YOU NEED YOUR MIND ON YOUR SIDE MOST?

Our minds are not only more powerful and creative than we know. They’re more powerful and creative than most of us can believe.

We’ve been raised to believe that the world somehow just happens to us out there. We’re not actors, directors, and producers of our lives. We’re kind of intelligent inert rocks with a smile acted upon by forces beyond our control. We’re victims not choosers of our destination and our outcomes.

Even for those of us who know better, this mentality can surface and thrive when we’re tired, weak, feeling defeated, or facing big challenges. In such situations, it’s easy, even comfortable to suppose we’re not responsible and we don’t have say.

Even though, these are the hardest moments to do it, they’re when we most need to put the power of our minds on our side.

When you’d rather believe you’re a victim of circumstance, put your mind on your side and you back in the driver’s seat.

When they’ve told you you’re not capable and you mostly believe them, put your mind on your side.

When challenge or crisis visits your life, put your mind on your side.

When it would be easy to give up and no one else would blame you, put your mind on your side.

When your dreams feel big and distant and your way forward seems blocked, put your mind on your side.

When your egoic mind tries to work against you and beat you down, put your mind on your side.

When the inertia of old paradigms holds you back, put your mind on your side.

It’s precisely those moments when we’d rather roll over and let fate work its will in us, that we need to remember WHO we are, WHAT we are, and that we have this powerful tool at the ready to shift our moment, shift our day, and shift our fate.

Just in case no one else has reminded you today, you are awesome!

Are You Contractually Unhappy?

We’re all familiar and somewhat annoyed with the fine print – the terms and conditions- that accompany virtually every transaction we participate in.

Let me ask you this. Do you place a long list of terms and conditions on your happiness? Do you catch yourself saying, “I’ll be happy when…” or “If this, this, and this happen, then I’ll be happy”?

If you want more happiness, drop your terms and conditions on it. Make the radical choice to be happy right now, today no matter what.

The alternative is to spend your life pushing your happiness out another day, another week, another year waiting for all your fine print to be satisfied.

Just in case no one else has reminded you today, you are awesome!

Wayne Dyer on Worry

The late, great Dr. Wayne Dyer used to say something interesting about worry.

There’s no use worrying about things you can control because if you can control them there’s no use worrying about them.

There’s no use worrying about things you can’t control because if you can’t control them there’s no use worrying about them.

Therefore, there’s absolutely nothing in the world to worry about.

Worry steals our joy and it steals our dreams, if we let it. This common sense approach to it, while not always possible to implement 100 percent, can help take the worry off our plates.

Even Though

Even though they throw the kitchen sink in the path to my dreams, I won’t stop,

Even though I sometimes feel small and alone, I won’t give up.

Even though my worst parts sometimes get the best of me, I keep aspiring to be better.

Even though I face doubters and haters, I still believe.

Even though adversity and setback knock at my door, I will prevail.

Even though sickness and death eventually will come for me, I live this moment, this day, this life with zest.

Even though this form I inhabit is temporary, I am one with the power that beats hearts and spins galaxies.

Even though no one remembers my contributions, I will incessantly contribute anyway.

Our road is not always easy, but it is our road. Our dreams sometimes seem far away, but we have been one with them from the beginning.

There is no stopping someone who won’t be stopped.

Just in case no one else reminds you today, you are awesome!

Heroic Acts

What constitutes a heroic act? One thing’s clear. It’s different acts for different people.

Some may do deeds in front of the whole world, astounding the masses and earning accolades. There’s not a thing wrong with this. It’s simply not the only way to commit heroic acts.

Some people act quietly and purposely away from the spotlight, but achieve enormous good.

For someone battling COVID or cancer or struggling with chronic conditions, a heroic act may just be getting out of bed today.

For someone who’s been victimized or horribly wronged, the act of trusting people again is a heroic act.

For the addict, saying no to one drink, one hit, or one bet is heroic.

Heroic acts come in all shapes and sizes and can be very situational. That’s why I argue with conviction we all have been heroes at one time or another. We all have a hero within us.

Don’t allow the great and public acts of heroism, deserving of praise as they are, diminish or discourage your small act of heroism where you are right now.

They all add up. Every heroic act makes someone’s life or the world a better place.

Appreciate the heroes around you. Own and embody your hero within.

Just in case no one else has reminded you today, you are awesome!
