The Power to Be You Released as PDF

Good morning, my friends.

I am very excited to make two big announcements this morning.

First my ebook, The Power to Be You: Game-changing Posidigms for Daily Life, is now available as a PDF download. The book has been available as an iPad app for a couple of months. With the release of the PDF version, more people will be able to enjoy this power-packed book with over 400 paradigm-shifting daily thoughts. The book was written to challenge, motivate, and help you transform your life one day at a time.

The second announcement is the launch of my second website, EBooks 4 Growth. This website will be home of the Power to Be You and the other ebooks I have on the way. The next ebook is titled 1001 Affirmations for Daily Life and will be on the site in the next couple of weeks.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you – my Facebook friends, my Twitter followers, my LinkedIn connections, and regular readers of this blog. Without your encouragement, support, and feedback that what I am writing is helping you, this would not be nearly as exciting or rewarding as it is.

Please check out the new site. There is a bio of me that might tell you a few thing about me that you didn’t know.

Blessings to you and yours!

Ray

5 Keys to Success – The Affirmation Spot for Monday August 23, 2010

Get Ray’s new book The Power to Be You: Game-Changing Posidigms for Daily Life – 407 daily thoughts to challenge, transform, and motivate your thinking.

Today’s Affirmation:

Success Affirmation: My hard work is paying off in an avalanche of success!

There is a narrow margin between greatness and near greatness when it comes to sports and life. But for a 1/100th of a second here or an extra step there, the winners and the almosts would be quite different. The message is that the margin of victory is small, but opportunities for success are many.

It is my firm belief that we are in a race of one. The world may appoint one person the “winner” and someone else the “loser”; but we really are in a pursuit of own highest potential. Winners and losers are an administrative detail.

Someone who works hard for years towards a goal is not a loser by any measure. They may not be labeled winner or victor, but they are an unqualified success.

There are many, many things that contribute to success. However, they can be broken down into five key ingredients that repeatedly create success.

  1. Talent – talent in a particular endeavor really is a baseline for success in that field. That’s not to say that you cannot derive satisfaction and happiness from painting even though you’ll never be Monet. You most certainly can! However, if your goal is success in a pursuit, it’s best to start with where your talent lies. Talent can be natural or developed.
  2. Motivation – all the talent in the world is nowhere without the motivation to develop it and advance it to a superior level. Motivation is a lot about excelling the talent and being willing to do the hard work. It’s also the mental part of the equation. Motivation is all about your thinking.
  3. Hard work – even in the age of electronic communication, social networking, and global media there is still no substitute for hard work. Success comes to talented, motivated, hard workers.
  4. A little help from your friends – it’s easy to see how this works in a team sport. A football team cannot win without a quarterback, offensive tackles, linebackers, punters, etc. Really, though, most high-level endeavors in life are a team effort. These Olympians we see winning medals have coaches, massage therapists, sponsors, and others that make it possible for them stand on that platform.
  5. Luck – there may be five really great sales professionals in a company, but only one is the top. Two great teams meet in The World Series every year, but only one great team becomes world champion. Sometimes you can have other four factors and it comes down to the way a ball bounces. Luck can be the deciding factor between individuals or teams that have done the other four. However, luck is overrated by many people who see all success as luck. It rarely is. Many people give up when luck goes against them. The key is to start right back with the motivation and start the process again. You were not the top sales person this time, but you can be next time. You can lose the Super Bowl by inches, but start again at training camp with the goal to get there again.

Beyond Happy Thoughts to Empowerment

Today’s Thought:

“Action may not always bring happiness, but there is no happiness without action.”
~ Benjamin Disraeli

beautiful smileMany people equate positive thinking with naiveté. Thinking “happy thoughts”, they point out, in the face of tragedy or difficulty is unrealistic.

There seems to be a defensiveness in that line of thinking. It renders as, “If I let my guard down enough to think ‘happy thoughts’ when things are tough, I’m going to get hurt. So, I’m going to steel myself against that possibility by thinking negative (um, realistic) thoughts.”

I can’t think of a better time to think “happy thoughts” than in the face of struggle. The challenge is whether or not you can. It’s not so easy to face down injustice, sadness, depression, and hatred with a sense of peace and a wise smile. It takes incredible strength and fortitude to do that and we, this blogger included, often fail miserably.

Negativity (um, realism) is like a powerful gravity well sucking us into its depths. We become caught up in negativity (um, realism) and we find ourselves getting more negative (um, realistic) by the moment. A “happy thought” is a very good thing at that moment. it changes the perspective. After all, the overwhelming majority of stresses we feel in our lives are rooted in our thinking. Maybe, just maybe, changing your thoughts changes the situation.

“Happy thoughts” are beneficial, but only a beginning. Empowered thinking is the ultimate goal. Empowered thinking changes the dynamic from throwing “happy thoughts” against a stressful world to actually feeling strong enough to act for change.

Three elements of Empowered Thinking

  1. Thought aspect – you have to think positively. Belief and commitment are important in any endeavor. Positive thinking is imperative to maximize those attributes. Positive thinking is the basis for empowered thinking, but empowered thinking is more than just positive thinking. It incorporates two more elements.
  2. Knowledge aspect – you have to be informed. In achievement pursuits, know what you are trying to achieve and be informed on what is going to be involved in succeeding. Knowing that ahead of time can help you prepare mentally for it. When empowering your thinking to critically evaluate information (such as in politics) you need to know as many of the facts as possible. Positive thinking and a lack of information do not allow you to take powerful action.
  3. Action aspect – empowered thinking is more than just thinking and knowing. Empowered thinking includes action. If you have incorporated the first two elements, your actions can be motivated and informed.

While “happy thoughts” may provide you a kind of protective shield; empowered thoughts help you break out of your shell and move forward towards a better you, a better life, and a better world.

Following are some random thoughts that have occurred to me lately. Love to share these occasionally.

  • Fear distorts, anger destroys, doubt limits. Love expands, prospers, and transforms. Where will you live today?
  • Looked at in the right way, a loss is a win with bigger lessons.
  • When there is nothing at risk there is nothing to gain.
  • Freedom is a tsunami ready to permanently drown the nightmares of tyranny and dogma.
  • Love is the light, freedom the path, empowerment the goal.
  • Challenges in life are not a signal to quit. They are a signal that success is near. The Universe never challenges failure.
  • Success never comes knocking on your door. Success comes knocking on your heart.
