Human Freedom Affirmation on July 4th

Of course, we Americans celebrate freedom on July 4th every year. It’s the day that marks the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

That document posited an idea that 245 years later Americans and humans across the planet see far too narrowly. It posited the idea that we humans are endowed, by our very being here, with certain freedoms that cannot be legitimately taken away from us by any earthly force.

While the words in that declaration are a seed and a starting place, it’s not the whole picture. Those freedoms are not limited to political considerations. In fact, taken the the ultimate extent, they mean that EVERY person walking the planet is a being free to explore and express the highest version of themselves possible.

No institution, no other person, and not even our own limiting beliefs should stand in the way of realizing that potential. Can you imagine a planet with seven billion people striving and being supported to strive for that potential? What a different world that would be from the one where so many suffer under repressions that start with their own mindsets and work their way out from there.

This affirmation a declaration of that kind of freedom. It’s a freedom that continues to exist for few, if any, humans on this planet. However, as I celebrate the inroads we’ve accomplished in human freedom today, my thoughts turn to that possible world and to doing all we can to make it, not only possible, but a reality.

Wherever you are on your journey today, remember that you ARE awesome!

I Choose Affirmations – Day 267 of 365 Days to a Better You

Choice, my friends, is the foundation of freedom. In modern free societies, you are offered so many choices that you can lose your ability to recognize the critical choices.

Walk down the typical chip aisle in an American grocery store and you’re presented hundreds of choices. You may walk up and down for several minutes trying to make a choice. Turn in your TV and you may ha e several hundred channels to choose from.

These kinds of choices are superficial choices; really almost a distraction. Yes, it’s wonderful to have so many choices, but choosing one bag of chips over another or one TV show over another changes little in the outcome of your life.

The choices that really matter are the ones we’ve fought centuries to achieve and fight today to maintain. Your exact list will be unique to you. However, I wrote these affirmations to cover some of the big ones.

These affirmations affirm both your right to choose and your power to choose.

Declare Your Independence – Day 179 of 365 Days to a Better You

Two-hundred forty three years ago today 56 men signed a document that declared something never attempted in world history. Free citizens declared their independence from their government.

The Declaration of Independence outlined the grievances and reasons the Continental Congress chose to break with the British Crown. Boiled down, the signers believed their ability to pursue their natural rights as human beings were being suppressed by staying under King George’s thumb.

At the signing, there was little hope of success. Yet, they risked their “lives and sacred honors” for the hope of freedom.

This day is a great day to reflect on the people, things, and circumstances you need to declare your independence from. What’s limiting you and holding you back? What’s stealing your freedom as a human being to pursue your highest self?

It’s worth thinking about and acting upon. Just as those brave men did all those years ago. Your freedom to be you is the foundation of all the success and happiness you seek. Never sacrifice it to convention or the status quo. Sometimes you can adjust within your current relationships and circumstances. The key is knowing when declaring your independence is the only way forward.

Stay inspired, my friends!
