2022 New Year’s Affirmations & Thoughts on Shifting Paradigms in the Coming Year

Today’s Thought:

“An optimist stays up until midnight to see the new year in. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves.”
~ Bill Vaughn

As you look at that quote, which one fits you? If you’re in the first group, please keep that momentum flowing in your life and the world as you impact it in 2022. If you’re in the latter group, a new year is a new start. It’s a chance to ask whether that way of seeing the world is getting you where you want to go in life.

2022 promises to be an intriguing year. The divisiveness in our culture is running high. Many believe, “I have no choice. I must be at war for my ideas and my ideas must prevail 100 percent all the time.”

Such thinking doesn’t think of the well-being of all. Such thinking is eager to divide us against ourselves; a position that defeats us all, defeats our present, and defeats our future.

This not a world that has been thrust upon us. It’s a world we have chosen, even if unconsciously. We’ve dehumanized people for as little as disagreeing with us. These mindsets must not prevail in 2022 and moving forward.

Many still don’t realize, is that our minds (individually and collectively) are not separate from the world “out there”. Our thoughts are, in fact, the root system of the “tree” we see manifested as the “real” world around us. If you dig up a tree, you will find it all stems from its root system. If you dig up our world of events and experiences, you soon see it is made up of our thoughts.

The cross-currents of disempowerment will be many and vocal in this historic year. The pace of change – real and perceived – is going to pick up during this year because of the built up psychological expectations for it. That makes it more important than ever to empower your mind and think the thoughts and envision the world you desire.

I am posting New Year’s Affirmations a little early so that you can begin using them now to get your new year off to a great start. Here are 24 affirmations to get your new year off to an empowering start.

I recommend you begin the year with using either “this year” or “In 2021,” and as you get beyond the change of the year change it to “Today” or “Right now”.

Remodeling Inner You – Day 320 of 365 Days to a Better You

In the infinity of time and space, the coming of another orbit of the earth around our Star is barely noticeable. Yet, for human beings these passages are deeply meaningful. They help us separate our lives into meaningful chunks.

The coming of a new year is a time we all reflect, set new goals, and make promises about the person we’re goi g to be during the next 365 days.

What promises, goals, and resolutions have you written down or made mental note of today and how will you track your progress? Here’s an easy measure applicable to anyone participating in social media. Remodel your inner self to be the person you project yourself to be on social media.

  1. Care as much about other people as you do on social media.
  2. Care as much about the earth as you do on social media.
  3. Spread humor and laugh heartily as you do on social media.
  4. Be your best self each day like you are on social media.
  5. Work for the changes you want to see in the world as much as you post about them on social media.
  6. Live the good life you project on social media.
  7. Be as good of a entrepreneur as you portray yourself as on social media.
  8. Live up to your spiritual values to an extent that matches what you say on social media.
  9. Care about political reform as passionately as you speak of it on social media.

For those who use these platforms, you’ve already created this idyllic version of your life that you’re supposedly living. To get better in 2020, simply start aligning your reality with that projection. It’s not fake if you make it real.

Just in case no one else has reminded you today, you’re awesome!

Get Your “You Time” – Day 5 of 365 Days to a Better You

Get Your You Time!

Good morning, my friends!

It’s Day 5 of 2019 and if you’ve been following these blogs, you are well on your way to being a better you in 2019. Today is the first weekend day of the new year and you’ve earned some R & R.

There are many ways we can better care for ourselves in 2019. I’m sure we’ll get to them as we move through this journey. One of the best is to schedule some “You Time.”

Most of us give away tons of our time all week long to jobs, friends, families and they’re all important for their own reasons. The thing many of us forget to do is take time to stop, reflect, and do something nice just for ourselves and just because.

reading-3462508_640So today, at some point, I want you to take some and treat yourself to something you truly enjoy. Take a few minutes to reflect on this first week of the New Year and get your bearings for what’s ahead.

It’s trite, but true. You’re no good to anyone else unless you take care of yourself.

Have a fantastic day! I’d love to hear what you did for YOU today in the comments below.

Make a To-Be List – Day 2 of 365 Days to a Better You

I hope you got STARTED on a new goal yesterday. If not, start now! Today’s task is to create a TO BE List. Everyone has a TO DO List. A TO BE List helps you decide WHO you want to be at the end of 2019.

I’ve been doing this activity since 2008. I think you’ll find your To-Be list a very powerful tool. This became quite a thing about 2010 and now, if you Google it, you’ll find this idea everywhere.

You are a human being not a human doing. All the dos in the world won’t make you the person you want to be unless you have clear targets for it.

Here are some instructions I put together to help you.

To-Be List Instructions

Please leave your list below in the comments. I can’t wait to hear you will be one year from now!

Get Started Right Now Not Tomorrow – Day 1 of 365 Days to a Better You

Happy New Year, my friends!

It’s New Year’s Day. Time for new starts and a new you. No, not a you fashioned by popular trends or society’s expectations. The you – yes THAT you – you’ve wanted to be for years.

BUT, it’s not a day to make distant promises. It’s a day to get started. You know that thing you’ve wanted to do since 20…? Make some time today to take positive steps towards it. NOW!

January 2 may seem like a better day to start than January 1. After all, today’s a holiday. Great people achieve great things while everyone else is watching football or the Food Network. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying those things. Just know that if you do what everyone else does, you’re going to get what everyone else gets.

If you want more, you may find yourself working around edges beyond what others do.

Henry David Thoreau promised, “If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”

You’ve got this! We’ll check back in on your progress.

I believe in your dreams. Meet me halfway and believe in them too.
