The world and our lives are what we make of them. It all begins with the narrative and who we allow to script it for us.
If you watch too much news or read too many of the angry people on social media, you’ll soon be convinced that everything is going to hell in a hand basket. The sky is falling. You can’t trust anyone. That is letting someone else write your narrative.
For every negative thing that gets reported on the news or argued about on social media, there are a million small acts of kindness, a million positive opportunities, and a million ways forward that don’t involve constant angst and anger.
Psychologically, you will begin to filter the world by what you focus on. It’s that same phenomenon as when you bought your last car and suddenly you noticed that car everywhere.
If you allow others to create a negative narrative in you, you’ll begin see all the evidence for it in your life. With that reinforcement, you’ll head down a negative path.
Or, you can decide your own narrative about the world and your experience will soon reinforce that.
Affirm With Me
Remember two things today. You’re awesome and put your mind on your side.
Most of us have come to the conclusion that simply having a day job will never grant you either financial freedom nor economic security in this rapidly shifting world.
To secure your economic well-being, you must develop multiple streams of income and as passively as possible to multiply your effort. The goal is to do the work once and keep getting paid.
Fortunately, we live in a moment when there have never been so many ways to do this. It’s not always easy and there’s often work to get something off the ground, but once you do you can see extra money rolling in every month.
Today’s affirmations are aimed at putting your mind on your side in this process. To build a powerful passive income mindset, listen to these affirmations regularly for about three weeks and then periodically after that.
Whatever your means of improving your financial outlook, I wish you success and the jot that can only come when you have more control over your financial destiny.
You’re awesome! You’re ready! Get out there and make it happen!
Who are we beyond this human mask? Philosophers and theologians have debated this for millennia. These affirmations take one perspective that I’ve come believe after studying many of those concepts from around the world.
It’s simple to say what we are not – at least not ONLY. We are not just this ego, this bodily form, or this few decades we walk upon the earth in it.
I don’t buy into the idea that we’re these horrible children trying work ourselves back into the good graces of an advanced being that put us here. There may be an advanced being, or intelligence, but that’s not its purpose or relationship to us.
I believe we are multidimensional, eternal beings traveling across the time and space since time immemorial. We choose this form or that because we want to add it our individual experience or to the collective experience of all existence.
That said, “the jungles of time and space” as Mike Dooley describes it, can become so intense that it can uproot us from our “higher” self.
These affirmations break some affirmations rules. I’m using the world not because it’s critical to remind yourself who you truly are versus this temporary part of yourself.
Enjoy the ride of this life. It’s what you’re here to do, but also don’t lose your connection to what is real. These affirmations help.
Wherever you live in our world in 2022. you probably are familiar with the game of basketball. In North America, it’s been one of the four major sports for well over 100 years. The rest of the world has come around to it in recent decades.
If you’re familiar with the game, you’re familiar with free throws. During regular play, players guard each other, but free throws are shot when a player is fouled. If you’re a soccer/football fan, it’s like a penalty and a free kick.
How is an affirmation like a free throw? Three ways.
They both are a break from “regular play.”
They both require focus.
They both require a lot of practice and repetition.
During a typical day, you’re exposed to a myriad of thoughts and ideas that aren’t your own and may not support your goals and aspirations. The news has opinions. Your boss has opinions. Your friends have opinions. Your family has opinions. Every one is constantly pouring disjointed and distracting information to your vacuum of consciousness and your mind readily absorbs it.
Affirmations are a break from that constant deluge. They are a way to put information, ideas, and thoughts into your mind that support you – your well-being and your aspirations.
They both require focus. Many great basketball are mediocre free throw shooters. They can fall-away 20-footers with a hand in their face, but they can’t make an unguarded shot because they lack focus.
Your mind has been unconsciously absorbing thoughts that don’t serve you day in and Fay out for decades. Consciously focusing, especially at first, makes a huge difference with new affirmations. Whether read, listen, or say them, give them the focus that will help you succeed.
The last comparison, and maybe the most important, is practice and repetition. Even with great focus, great free throw shooters practice incessantly. Through repetition, they develop the muscle memory to make free throws practically automatically.
People often wonder why they are asked to use affirmations over and over. It’s because they are different from hearing a fact. A fact is something you hear once and you know it.
Affirmations have a different goal. You’re not repeating until you know it. You’re repeating until they replace old negative thought patterns that have enjoyed years of unconscious repetition in your mind.
You must practice and repeat affirmations over and over until that mental muscle memory forms that makes them your dominant thoughts no matter what els3 you’re exposed to during the day.
I’ve been using affirmations for 30 years. When you thin’ of them like free throws, they become an effective tool in you achieving the life you seek.
Wherever you are on your journey today, remember this. You’re a one-in-a-trillion miracle.
The past. They say there’s no escaping the past. It’s always with us. What matters is how you use it because, as this affirmation reminds us, it got us where you are.
If your NOW is amazing, then bless and honor the past that brought you here. If you’re NOW is a struggle, decide, starting right now, that you’ll learn from the past that brought you here and use it as a catalyst to change what comes next for you.
You may not be able to change the past, but you need not remain stuck there. Choose a higher trajectory for your future and honor your past for giving you the wisdom and that choice to change.
