Few human masters are better remembered for their simple wisdom than Confucius. His intellect was one of the pillars of the ancient Chinese culture and even of the modern Chinese psyche.
One of my favorite pieces of Confucius advice is, “Wheresoever you go, go with all your heart.”
You’re here in this place and this time. You’ve already “bought the ticket.” So, take the ride. Why not go after what you want and who you can become with all you are? Why allow half-heartedness, uncertainty, or doubt stop you from reaching the top of your mountain?
You know the answer to these questions. Please don’t waste your time going over the plan one more time. Start climbing that mountain and the wisdom of how will greet you along the way!
You are all amazing! Thank you for reading this blog. I wish you all a wonderful night’s sleep and a brilliant beginning to your tomorrow.
Do you ever have those moments when you feel like you can’t be stopped? The momentum is going your way and fortune is smiling on you. The fool becomes arrogant and pride soon brings a fall. The wise person sucks that momentum into his or her sails and sets course for the big dreams.
Your sail across the ocean of life brings all kinds of weather. Some days push you off course and some days are like the doldrums. When you have smooth seas and the breeze at your back, that’s the time to move fast. Recognize these moments and seize them to make the most of the opportunity.
Mary Chapin Carpenter is a country singer some of you may know. She had a song back in the 1990s called, “I Take My Chances.” The song is anthem to the indomitable spirit of the person who refuses to be broken or culled by life’s rough edges and continues to dare to his or her best self.
Power Hack: There’s a couple lines in that song to put in your heart on those days when you’re pushing your ship to the limit.
Now some people say that you shouldn’t tempt fate
And for them I can not disagree
But I never learned nothing from playing it safe
I say fate should not tempt me
What is fate compared to the spirit of a human being pursuing a worthwhile dream? No one ever achieved a great dream by playing it safe. Playing safe is where big dreams go to die.
So, Chapin-Carpenter continues later in the song, “Cut the deck right in half, I’ll play from either side.”
Ready your ship for a week of fast sailing ahead!
Thanks for stopping by and reading the blog. If you got something from it, I hope you’ll share it with some friends. I appreciate you all!
“Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.”
~ Albert Einstein
Do you have a great idea; a dream so big that it could change everything? This Einstein quote highlights his observation that those who bring real change are always met with resentment by the purveyors of the status quo.
Throughout history, ideas that eventually gained wide acceptance were greeted with mistrust or as revolutionary or heresy. Those who conceived them have been called lunatics, heretics, and worse.
The fact is that if you have an idea – no matter how great – that shakes up the status quo, you are going to encounter this force of resistance.
Are you ready? Do you believe strongly enough in your idea, in your cause to be ridiculed and called heretic for it? Are you so committed to your path that you are willing to risk it all to see it through to fruition?
Here are few famous failures to remind you that “the experts” don’t always know what they are talking about.
Believe in yourself. Believe in your idea. Believe in your vision of what can be! Proudly be a heretic for your idea and go for it! That’s what has always changed the world.
Be peaceful Be prosperous!
Ray’s new speculative fiction novel – Anunnaki Awakening: Revelation – is shaking paradigms among believers and non-believers. It’s a clever mix of ancient knowledge, modern conspiracy, and page-turning excitement.
One reader wrote, “(My) mind is officially blown!”
Author Graham Hancock said, “We are a species with amnesia.” This book begins the awakening. Is it fact? Is it fiction? You decide!
Greetings and a pleasant Tuesday to each of you! I was listening to my mp3 player at work today and had it set to one of my favorite pick-me-up genres – musicals. There have been some incredible songs written for American theatre over the years and I really enjoy listening to the old Rodgers and Hammerstein right through the most current shows.
Today the song Defying Gravity from the show “Wicked” was playing. I have always liked the song, but had never thoroughly listened to the words until today.
They are powerful words for anyone in the process of charting a new course in life. Whether you are starting a new business, pursuing an artistic career against the odds, or just want to break free of some old thinking; these words definitely inspire.
Here is an excerpt of the lyrics.
Something has changed within me
Something is not the same
I’m through with playing by the rules
Of someone else’s game
Too late for second-guessing
Too late to go back to sleep
It’s time to trust my instincts
Close my eyes: and leap!
It’s time to try
I think I’ll try
And you can’t pull me down!
I’m through accepting limits
‘Cuz someone says they’re so
Some things I cannot change
But till I try, I’ll never know!
Too long I’ve been afraid of
Losing love I guess I’ve lost
Well, if that’s love
It comes at much too high a cost!
I’d sooner buy
Kiss me goodbye
I’m defying gravity
And you can’t pull me down.
So if you care to find me
Look to the western sky!
As someone told me lately:
“Ev’ryone deserves the chance to fly!”
And if I’m flying solo
At least I’m flying free
To those who’d ground me
Take a message back from me
Tell them how I am
I’m flying high
And soon I’ll match them in renown
And nobody in all of Oz
No Wizard that there is or was
Is ever gonna bring me down!
Have a peaceful and prosperous Tuesday and don’t be afraid to defy gravity today! Ray
