Bliss Affirmations

Today’s Thought

“Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors where there were only walls.”

~ Joseph Campbell

woman meditation on the beachBliss is a powerful concept and one that this famous quote by Joseph Campbell has caused to resonate in the minds of the current generations of humans living on planet Earth. How to define bliss?

Well, this is one of those words where dictionary definitions are simply inadequate. Your bliss is where you feel at home. It’s your sweet spot.

It’s those moments and situations where you *know* you are aligned with your purpose. It’s that life that wakes you in the middle of the night and says, “Come live me!”

Today I am sharing a few bliss affirmations to help you live your bliss.

  1. As I follow my bliss, my bliss starts chasing me!
  2. Prosperity and happiness are mine when I find the courage to truly follow my bliss!
  3. Following my bliss can pay the bills as well any job.
  4. Today and every day my bliss is my compass for success and happiness.
  5. I never miss when I follow my bliss!
  6. I do what I love and find my bliss. I keep doing what I love and I live my bliss. I give myself completely to what I love and I become my bliss!
  7. Bliss builds in my world today with every conscious decision I make!
  8. Today I find my bliss in the sweet spot where my talents and my passion merge.
  9. Following my bliss creates magic in my life.
  10. I am a bliss magnet!
  11. I follow my bliss! I experience my bliss! I become my bliss!

Stay inspired! You are the engine of your dreams!

Dreaming While Awake

Today’s thought

“Most people think dreams are only experienced when sleeping. A few enlightened souls recognize that dreams happen only when we become fully awake.”

Of course, our awakening occurs gradually over the course of our life or lives (depending on your belief). Some days it’s two steps forward and three steps back. Some days the chaos and the noise around us obscures the mountain summit.

However, the more we commit to our own awakening; the more we make it the focus of our lives; the more clearly our dreams come into view. We seem to be treading water, treading water, treading water, and then one day we realize we have slipped right into living our dream.

There is a kind of unconsciousness about the last step that allows us to ease right into a life we only, well, “dreamed” about.

Today, no matter what physical or psychological weather you face in your life; keep treading and keep your dream in focus.

Sleep is for rest. Our dreams are meant to be experienced with eyes wide open.

Follow your bliss. Experience your bliss. Become your bliss.

Challenging Yourself to Be Great – The Affirmation Spot for Monday October 17, 2011

green_leaves_sunlight.jpgToday’s Affirmation

“Your life is coming together in a complete and perfect way. You are doing all that is necessary, accepting all that is necessary, and releasing all that is necessary for your life to come forth and blossom. Give yourself credit for your accomplishments; cut yourself some slack for your mistakes. Know that all leads to your growth and healing. Be happy an enjoy life!”

When you accept that your life is coming together just as it should, you are free to challenge yourself to stretch beyond your limits.

On my journey this day, I follow in the footsteps of the immortals. The imprints they have left behind on the Earth are large and their strides are a stretch for me. Yet, if I dare not encounter them and measure myself by them, how shall I ever know the true immensity of my own being?

So, I step consciously into the light; walking the path they once walked. Leaving it, occasionally, and improvising. Adding to it qualities uniquely my own.

Breathing with the trees and conversing with the clouds, as once they did. Our collective wisdom grows until no distinction remains among the path, the immortals, and me.

Right now is the time to open yourself to the possibility of ignoring limitations and going beyond self-imposed boundaries. For the fear and anxiety you experience are nothing but the shadow of unfulfilled promise.

arms_stretched.jpgThe world is full of opportunity and peril and a little of each in the other. It is ever forming and reforming; manifesting in precise accordance with our expectations. For your world lives in your mind long before it becomes visible; shaping itself to your perception of what is possible.

What is set in stone today is the dust in tomorrow’s breeze. Remember you are creating tomorrow’s results with every thought, word, and action today. Change is the catalyst for your betterment and your imagination its only limitation. Make the most of this blessing given you to personify the fruition of the promise that dwells within.

Each moment is a gift providing you with a fresh start on which to build a life filled with things more precious to you than your problems.

Follow your bliss! Experience your bliss! Become your bliss!

Three Steps to Following Your Bliss – The Affirmation Spot for Friday March 7, 2008

Today’s affirmation is:

“A new day dawns…I am a new person today; a better person, a healthier person, a happier person.” (click the affirmation to hear in mp3)

Joseph CampbellThe famous comparative mythologist Joseph Campbell once said:

“When you follow your bliss… doors will open where you would not have thought there would be doors, and where there wouldn’t be a door for anyone else.”

By bliss, Campbell was referring to your true life’s purpose. He meant those activities, things, or people that are your reason for being.

What is your bliss? Do you know? Have you found it? These are questions you must answer for yourself.

Not one other person on the planet can answer them for you. That’s what Campbell means when he talks about the doors that wouldn’t be there for anyone else. The doors are individual to each of us. Think about that for a moment. You and only you have the password to unlock certain untapped, unique potentials that can be born into this universe only through you. How is that for important?

Follow these three steps to discover your bliss:

  1. Find it – Your bliss is what lends more meaning, gives more joy and more peace, and provides a greater sense of accomplishment than anything else in your life. What is your bliss? The answer may or may not be readily apparent. You might have to do some significant self reflection to discover it. Is your life aligned with those things?
  2. Believe it – Believe you can follow your bliss and succeed. We too easily discount our bliss as unrealistic or not possible. Ask yourself, “Is not following my bliss more realistic?” What are the costs to ignoring your deepest impulses? You have to believe these profound instincts are important enough to act upon and you need to believe!
  3. Pursue it – once you identify your bliss, pursue it with passion. Campbell relates, from his study of myriad myths and allegories from around the world, that when a person follows his or her bliss with passion; the universe or God opens the pathway to achieve it.

Once you find your bliss, believe it, and begin pursuing it with passion, watch in amazement as the universe rearranges itself to come to your aid.

Follow your bliss! Experience your bliss! Become your bliss!

Metta and The Monk – The Affirmation Spot for Thursday January 24, 2008

Leave your comment on today’s blog

Today’s affirmation is actually a version of a Buddhist meditation called Metta (loving-kindness). This meditation is practiced by directing the following words at yourself. Then spreading them to loved ones and people towards whom you have positive feelings. Then applying them to people that you are neutral towards. Finally, you direct the meditation towards people you view negatively – enemies or people who have hurt you in life.

In my own practice, I have also expanded it to include all people and living things on the Earth and all living things where ever they may exist in the universe. Back in my days as a sales professional, I also would direct this meditation particularly at the customers I planned to call on the next day. It had an uncanny way of opening doors where they appeared to be closed.

“May I be happy. May I be peaceful. May I be free from suffering.” “May (fill in the name) be happy. May (fill in the name) be peaceful. May (fill in the name) be free from suffering.”

cave.jpgToday’s post is a random meandering from a few years ago. During my own meditations, this image of a monk sitting in the entrance to a cave kept appearing. He just sat there playing this old flute and meditating on the sound. He seemed to be communicating with me without saying anything.

How wonderful to remember that there are people out there who spend every waking moment hoping and believing in what the rest of us are capable of becoming.

“The Monk”

Gongs echo in the darkness of the valley below;
one hour to sun up.
Against the mouth of a mountain cave sits a solitary monk;
meditating on the sound of his weathered flute.

Clothed in tattered robe that once was of yellow tint;
he owns nothing in this world
but the peace of mind
born of transcendent joy.

Each morning at this very time he prays with every breath;
that those of us in the world below
would give up our anger, greed, and hatred
and be transformed by the profound bliss he knows.

Be peaceful Be prosperous!

Today’s affirmation is:

“Today I recognize the miracle that is me and the other miracles all around me.”ggb_trafficjpg.gif

Well it’s Wednesday and in case you were thinking it is the middle of “just another week” here are some things to ponder.

Someday we will all face the end of our walk in this form.

Sometimes during the course of “just another week” we don’t recognize how precious each moment is and how quickly all this is passing us by. We forget what a miracle it is that any of us are here at all.

Have you ever really considered just how many unlikely things had to happen for YOU to be here, or, for that matter, for HERE to be here?

Every single thing we see around us all day long every day was a one in a trillion shot. Each blade of grass, each cloud, each person, even the traffic jam you found yourself in on the way to work this morning – all are totally unlikely combinations that beat the long odds to burst into existence. That’s nothing short of a miracle.

grass1.gifSomeday when you do reach the end of this stage of your journey; this “just another week” may seem a lot more special than it does now. You may wish you had stopped to witness and marvel at the whole miraculous play.

Today, make a point to see the miracles. Tell the person you care most about in this world that you love them and remind them that they are a miracle.

And when you encounter the traffic jam on the way home this evening, breathe deeply and say, “Ah, yes. You are a miracle too.” It won’t get you home any faster, but it will make the ride more enjoyable.

Enjoy a miraculous Wednesday!!

 Be peaceful Be prosperous
