Thoughts That Would Transform The World #1

Hey, my friends, happy Sunday! I’m starting a new series of posts on thoughts that would transform the world.

I discovered this tweet this morning by a guy named Aaron Will. It immediately struck me as powerful and a real duh.

Why is our educational system set up to make us workers that give the best hours of our days for the best years of our lives rather than teaching us how become abundant and thrive early in life?

Certainly, we’re not here on this Earth only to labor in someone else’s fields most of our lives for two weeks vacation each year and the hope of a few good years to ourselves at the end.

While it would be nice to see an educational system committed to such lofty and aspirational goals, we can’t afford to wait,

It’s up to us to create the life we seek. It’s up to us to do those things that bring us bliss. It’s up to us create revenue streams that, whether they get us completely out of the work-a-day world or not, set us up to live the life we want and provide us choices.

Let us live our best life beginning today,

Ray

Babe Ruth – Resilience Quote

Every strike brings me closer to the next home run.
~Babe Ruth

Babe Ruth was boisterous in his self-promotion. He did have the distinction of being one of those people who often backed up the boast.

This quote, though, speaks to us all – legends and everyone else. It speaks to resilience and perseverance. Our failures are the seeds of our next success. Many lose themselves in the momentary strike and get knocked off course. If you can always see the next home run in every strike, you’re half way there!

Wherever you are on your journey today, remember you are awesome!

Then I Realized I Was Somebody

If you find yourself looking around wondering this in a situation, the situation may be waiting for you. You won’t be the hero of every situation and life, but sometimes your number is called and you’re the one the universe is counting on to think something, say something, and most importantly do something to shift the status quo in a new and positive direction.

Just in case no one else has reminded you today, you’re awesome!

Your Mind Focused

It all starts between the ears. Every day, every week, every year, every dream, every achievement; begins by having your mind on point and on your side.

Buddha was quoted in The Dhammapada as saying, “A wrongly directed mind brings greater harm than any enemy; a rightly directed mind brings greater good than any relative or friend.”

Your own experience tells you this true too. So, get your mind focused and pushing you onto your finish line, whatever that is for you right now.

Just in case no one else has reminded you today, you are awesome!

Tie A Knot and Hang On

One of my favorite determination and resilience quotes is by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

I’ve always loved the self-reliance, even defiance against a challenging situation the quote embodies. It counsels courage in the face of hardship.

When Roosevelt assumed office on March 4, 1933, the nation and the world were squarely in the suffocating grip of the worst depression in modern times.

There was no TV, no Internet to deliver images and multimedia messages to a downtrodden and discouraged populace. Radio was the high tech of the day and FDR had only his words and his voice to reassure a nation that we would come through the challenges.

There were millions at the end of their economic and psychological ropes during the 30s. Roosevelt frequently took on the role of motivator-in-chief.

Like so many inspiring quotes, this one has has dubious origins. In addition to FDR, Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson, among others, have been credited with the quote.

While FDR is most often given credit, if he actually said it, he was likely repeating something he’d heard or read elsewhere.

The saying has been cited in print since 1919. The first known credit to FDR for the quote came in 1958. It certainly fits with many of FDR’s other notable motivational quotes.

Regardless of the source of the quote, we can all appreciate power it has to inspire us in moments of difficulty.

Just in case no one else has reminded you today, you are awesome!
