As Christmas passes, our focus begins to move towards the new year. 2008 holds potential for anything at this point. There is not yet one fingerprint on its possibility.

Today’s affirmation is:

“Who I am is not for sale at any price! I am brilliant and beautiful and a best friend to everyone who knows me. I am peaceful and happy and more successful than ever before. I am relaxed and confident and trading in my old fears on new hopes.

2008 is going to be a wonderful year for me; a year of breakthrough, options, and opportunities for new paths to follow. I am excited and ready for the challenges and the triumphs that lie ahead.

No, my self-worth, my happiness, my freedom, my unbounded optimism about what is ahead is not for sale at any price!”

As another journey around our home star begins in the next few days, begin visualizing 2008 as your big year.

Read this affirmation to yourself a few times today. Begin envisioning the new year as you’d like to see it right now. As the door of 2007 begins to swing shut, the window that is 2008 is opening.

Every possibility, every option, every hope, dream, and goal are back on the table.

Be peaceful Be prosperous

Moving Mountains Beginning with Mole Hills – The Affirmation Spot for Tuesday December 18, 2007

Today’s affirmation is:

It is not the mountain I conquer, but myself. I am reaching for the top of the mountain and my day in the sun is here.”

mountain.gifThere is a famous quote variously attributed to several people that says, “Whether or not you believe you can do a thing, you’re right.”  In the Book of Matthew, Jesus audaciously states, “Had you the faith of a mustard seed, you could command a mountain to be moved from here to there and it would be so.”

Both statements clearly to remind us that we have within us an astonishging capacity to do what would ordinarily be considered miraculous. In both instances, the fuel for the miracles is our belief.

I have often pondered this statement of Jesus and thought, “Ok, I believe it. I command the mountain to move.”  Immediately, even before I can get the words out, “common sense” enters my mind and says, “This is nonsense. The world does not work that way.”  Doubt has entered the picture. That’s why Jesus started his statement with, “Had you the faith…”

In Buddhism, doubt is one of the “five hindrances” to wisdom and considered the most difficult to overcome. We live in a society that teaches us that doubt and mistrust are prerequisites for our own self-protection. I wonder if the doubt spread by this world view is hindering us, individually and collectively, as we pursue our goals.

Although easier said than done, if we could suspend our disbelief just long enough to allow a firm belief in ourselves and our potential to take root and flourish; we could begin bringing the miraculous into our lives.

Maybe we start with things smaller than mountains like succeeding in our career, or strengthening our friendships and relationships, or simply achieving peace of mind.  Then perhaps we can tackle the mountain.  But then as Edmund Hilary stated, “It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves.”

How true!

Everyone have a great Thursday. Find a situation today to suspend your disbelief long enough to allow your miracle.

Be peaceful Be prosperous

The Promise of New Life – The Affirmation Spot for Tuesday December 11, 2007

grass_through_snow.jpgToday’s affirmation is:

“Difficulities are doorways to something better than I had planned.”

“The entire cosmos is made up of clashing forces and polarities, yet without this seeming conflict, the universe itself could not exist. Life is a dance of opposites that involves destruction, rebirth, pain, and joy.”

~ David Fideler

The powerful symbology is important in Fideler’s quote. We have many of familiar aphorisms that confirm this idea such as, “It’s always darkest just before the dawn,” or even that famous gym affirmation “no pain, no gain.”

It is certainly a very old and very common human concept that out of pain, difficulty, and death comes new life. The Hindus recognize this interplay in their personification of Shiva, “The God of Destruction,” who is also recognized as the “Bringer of New Birth.” The Vietnamese Buddhist monk Thich Naht Hanh talks about the cycle of the beautiful rose that dies, becomes garbage, and then can be used as fertilizer to grow a new rose.

For whatever reason, adversity is often the birthplace of the best things in our lives. Think about your own past. Even though you dread the pain and struggle that comes with tough times, were those times not the seeds of some of your greatest triumphs?

So, am I extolling the virtues of pain and suffering? Suggesting that you should go looking for difficulty as a kind of initiation experience leading the greater joy? No.

As the saying goes, “Into every life, a little rain must fall.” We all face the proverbial winter in our lives. Things seem bleak, lifeless, maybe even hopeless. Yet, even on the coldest day of winter, the signs of new life are only inches below the surface waiting to emerge.

This is just a reminder – in case you are experiencing one of those times right now or for when you experience it in the future – to always be looking for the spring sprouts of new life. You can count on them always being there, if only you look closely enough.  For as surely as the seasons come and go in nature, they come and go in our lives.

Hope everyone is enjoying spring in their lives today, but if not be looking for its signs.

Be peaceful Be prosperous

The Affirmation Spot Solution – Tuesday September 11, 2007

The Affirmation Spot Solution

Audio affirmations are the solution for fitting affirmations into your busy schedule. Audio affirmations allow you to get your affirmation repetition in a multitasking environment. You can listen consciously or unconsciously and get the benefit of your affirmations. There is no need to set aside special time to repeat and memorize them. You “absorb” them the way you do lyrics to a song as you go through your day.

So, what’s new about audio affirmations? There are hundreds of CD affirmation sets available on Amazon or around the Internet. True, but you pay $15 – $100 for a CD set that is hard to lug around and contains many affirmations you don’t need. These sets are also bulky and hard to transport.

Digitally downloaded MP3 files, however, are easily transported on mini-devices like MP3 players or cell phones. They are readily usable on other equipment many people have access to during the day such as computers and CD players.

The Affirmation Spot allows you to:

  • Download individual affirmations in the convenient and flexible MP3 format.
  • Pay only for affirmations that you specifically select to target your professional, personal, and recreational goals rather than those selected by the company making the CD.
  • Select from three different versions of most affirmations:

    • Exercise version which is recorded to upbeat music and at a louder volume for exercise, high activity, or power motivation needs.
    • Relaxation version that is recorded to peaceful or relaxing music and at a lower volume. These affirmations can easily be listened to while working or relaxing.
    • No Music version which allows you to play your affirmations in tandem with your own soundtrack.
  • Select from an ever-growing library of MP3 affirmations, visualizations, meditations, prayers, and bible verses that allows you to use these powerful tools in areas of your life most affirmation companies have never considered.
  • Play your affirmations on any MP3-capable device – your iPod, MP3 player, MP3-capable cell phone, computer, or burn them to CDs
  • Play your affirmations where and when they will do you the most good – in the locker room before the big game, on the way to your sales call, driving in your car, or relaxing in your hammock.

Affirmations are really daily vitamins for your mind. Just like you take you take vitamins for your physical health you need your daily intake of positive thoughts of your choosing to keep you on track to your goals.

Please visit our website and look around. Try a couple of our September Featured Affirmations. As always, your thoughts, feedback, or stories about how you are using the affirmations are welcomed.

Psychologically, today is a tough anniversary for all of us. Please remember to tell the people close to you what they mean to you today.

Have a peaceful and prosperous Tuesday!

 Ray

The Affirmation Spot – September Sale

Thursday greetings,

I’ve mentioned in a couple of previous blogs that The Affirmation Spot website was going to launch on September 1. We were able to successfully push the site to production on that day. However, the site is still a work in progress and will be for some time to come.

Someone that visited the site over the weekend wrote me to ask what had motivated me to create the site. I responded that, in my experience, no matter how confident, evolved, or enlightened we become, we all still have the very human tendency to need a boost now and again.

There is always some area of our lives that we want to improve and the way we think about those things has HUGE impact on whether or not we will make those changes in our lives. Some of us are fighting personal demons. Some are just trying to condition their minds for highest possible performance in some endeavor. Some people just need a daily reminder of how important they are and how important their work is…especially when no one seems to care or say, “thank you.”

The vision behind The Affirmation Spot is to become an iTunes of audio (mp3) positive thoughts, affirmations, meditations, and visualizations that can be taken anywhere you go during the day and played when and where you need to hear them.

During the month of September, more than 20 affirmations on the site will be 20% off. These affirmations can be found on the front page of the site.

We are very curious to know how people are using affirmations from the site. Drop me a note and let me know how you are using your affirmations and suggest any affirmations you would like to see on the site.

Have a peaceful and prosperous Friday!

Ray

The Affirmation Spot Affirmation of the Day – Friday August 31, 2007

Today’s affirmation is:

“I feel a new peace of mind. A new sense of serenity is coming over me each and every day. I am calm, I am centered, and I am focused.”

As we move into this holiday weekend and celebrate the unofficial end of summer in the United States, take a moment to recenter and refocus. This affirmation will help. Download it, put it on your mp3 player, and listen to it as you go about your day today.
