The World We Seek – Day 296 of 365 Days to a Better You

The world we are seeking is not a world of bare minimums for everyone, though that’s a start. It’s a world of universal abundance of mind, body, and spirit that lives in harmony with nature rather than in conflict with it.

To achieve that, requires us to ask questions we’ve never before asked, consider possibilities we’ve never before considered, and release old paradigms that no longer serve us.

The road to that world will not be easy. Many are simply unwilling to ask those questions, consider new options, or release old thinking that comforts them. For many, attachment to outmoded labels and, frankly, just the inertia of habit make the world that can be seemingly impossible.

For those of us who do see that world and its necessity, we must be willing to stand courageously against the tyranny of the status quo. We must be wiling to lay out the vision of what’s possible, even against naysaying we will encounter. We must hold firm to the principle that what is is, but that doesn’t mean it’s what has to be.

Why not a world where every human being has basic needs for shelter, sustenance, health, and education met simply for being born into the human family? Why not a world where every human being, their basic needs met, strives to become the best version of himself or herself and make the contribution to the world he or she was born to make?

Utopia? No. It’s simply an enlightened civilization where every human being is valued and his or her contribution welcomed. Too much to ask? Only for as long as we believe it is.

Star Trek has been talking about such a world for decades. Though it appears we need not wait for the 24th century technology to make it so. We’re on the precipice of technology that could make all this possible right now.

Science historian James Burke laid out this vision thirty years in the last few minutes ofthe final eposode of the seminal series The Day The Universe Changed.

Let us proceed with our hearts and minds set on a world like that. To those who say it’s impossible, just watch us!

Just in case no one else has reminded you today, YOU are awesome!

I began studying affirmations and positive thinking after a life-threatening illness at 25. My thirst for self-improvement led him to read the writings of Joseph Campbell, Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, Neale Donald Walsch, and many other luminaries in the fields of mythology and motivation. Over time, I have melded these ideas into my own philosophy on self-development. I have written, recorded, and used affirmations and other tools throughout that time to improve my own life and I have a passion for helping other reach for their goals and dreams.
