Ode To April

On this Valentine’s Day, I thought I’d share a poem I wrote to my lovely wife. My hope and my wish is that each of you are as lucky as me to find your perfect someone. Happy Valentine’s Day!

“Ode to April”

If Helen had a face
that launched a thousand ships
And men have long gone wild
over Mona Lisa’s lips.

Imagine how I must feel
to gaze into the eyes
Of an angel such as you
in whom true love resides.

I have yet to fully treasure
Your beauty or your subtlety;
a million little inklings of your
blessed radiant majesty.

And should I have petitioned
the mighty heavens up above
A maid so fair I’d not have found
nor one, for me, so full of love.

Yet you, my gift, arrived here
as if right on cosmic cue;
Healed the wounds from my past
and filled my heart with you.

Joy so overwhelming
had not been mine to know.
Now that I have found it
I shall never let you go.
